Julia Spanu

We are delighted to have the multialented Julia Spanu. Julia grew up in the historical city of Carthage, Tunisia, where she immersed herself in the Tunisian oriental culture while living in a multicultural family. Coming from various origins, including France, Italy and Vietnam, Julia has been shaping her musical identity through her travels and artistic discoveries, performing and writing from a young age.

Coming from a background involving the practice of many languages she finally found her passion in music and
songwriting which led her to join Irish band MOXIE after she first moved to Ireland in 2016. She completed a music production course in the Art School - Sound Music Dj and recently completed a Masters in Music Performance with a first-class
distinction in MTU Cork School of Music

Her art is deeply influenced by the modern cross-cultural world and the role of tradition taking part in the general ethnic- mosaic. By blending these influences with music genres such as pop, neo-soul, sean- nós and world music, Julia has developed an original sound working with the languages and folklore from her past and present environments.
