Jussi Syren and the Groundbreakers


Jussi Syren and the Groundbreakers are from Finland and formed in 1995. They have enjoyed touring the USA including these festivals and venues: Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival (PA) Jam´n´Bluegrass (NC), Tennessee Fall Homecoming (TN), IBMA (KY), Everetts Barn (GA) and six European countries.

They have had three albums highlighted in Bluegrass Unlimited during a seven years period ("Bluegrass Singer" "The Old Home Place Ain't The Same Anymore" and "Bluegrass Headquarters"). The banjo player Tauri Oksala was featured in the Banjo Newsletter cover article in June 2018. Grammy winner Michael Cleveland played the fiddle on two of the tracks on the "Bluegrass Headquarters" album. In 2020 the group was selected as a main showcase act for IBMA World of Bluegrass and their seasonal project "Bluegrass Christmas" was selected as Christmas record of the year 2020 by Finnish radio stations.
