Molly O'Mahony

Ireland

Molly O’Mahony cut her teeth on the Irish music scene with alt-folk group Mongoose, with whom she was the main singer, songwriter and drummer for a decade. The group released two albums and two EPs over an eight-year span, sharing stages and projects with artists like Glen Hansard, Eddie Reader, and notably, jazz singer Mary Coughlan, and played venues from Vicar Street, Dublin to Centre Culturel Irlandaise, Paris. The pandemic provided her the opportunity to return to her home place of West Cork and begin a solo music project. In 2021, she was awarded an Agility Award Bursary from the Arts Council of Ireland, to complete her debut solo album ‘The House Of David’. The album was released in November of 2022 to critical acclaim and rotational national radio play. It was nominated for Best Debut Album at the Hotpress Awards, 2023. She has also recorded material from the album with the RTE Concert Orchestra, which is due for public release later this year.
