Volunteers are the backbone of every successful event — and Your Roots Are Showing is no exception. As Ireland’s Folk Conference returns, we’re inviting both new and returning volunteers to help create an unforgettable experience.
Volunteers work three 4-hour shifts during the conference week to qualify for volunteer benefits (outlined below). You can select your preferred shifts and areas when completing your application.

Volunteer Registration
Registration is online. You’ll indicate your preferred roles, availability, and any special skills. Opportunities are available across seven key areas:

Note: Professionals attending for networking or business should register as attendees rather than volunteers to avoid schedule conflicts.

General Responsibilities
While duties vary by team, all volunteers are expected to:

Offer a warm welcome and assist attendees — you’re often their first point of contact

Arrive 20 minutes before each shift and check in at the designated volunteer area

Complete all assigned shifts and plan personal activities outside those times
-
Notify coordinators promptly of any schedule changes
-
Understand your role and attend required training
-
Ensure smooth handover between shifts
Volunteers must be 18 years or older.
