Martin Almgren
Sweden

Martin Almgren is a Swedish singer and songwriter from Lindesberg, renowned for his powerful, soulful voice and his deep-rooted connection to honest, emotionally driven music. He rose to national prominence in 2015 after winning the Swedish equivalent of American Idol, where his raw authenticity and stirring performances struck a chord with viewers across the country.
Originally a truck driver with a love for music, Martin’s journey from the quiet forests of Bergslagen to the national stage was as unlikely as it was compelling. His debut album, Can’t Hold Me Down (2015), climbed the charts and introduced his signature blend of country, soul, and pop. In 2017, he released the EP Changing Street, signaling a shift toward more introspective songwriting and Americana tones.
In 2018, Martin reached the final of the Swedish Song Contest with A Bitter Lullaby, a stirring ballad that became a quiet anthem for resilience and empathy. That same honesty carried over into his work in musical theatre between 2019 and 2020, where roles in productions such as Robin Hood expanded his artistic reach and solidified his reputation as a versatile and heartfelt performer.
The global pandemic brought a period of introspection and return. Martin stepped back from the spotlight and turned inward—both musically and personally. That silence birthed Caught Me On A Bad Day (2025), an album forged in stillness and honesty, blending Nordic melancholy with Southern soul and Americana storytelling. Much of the material was written during songwriting trips to Nashville, where Martin collaborated with songwriters like Sharon Vaughn and Anthony Smith, deepening his connection to the roots of the genre.
He continues to record in both Stockholm and Lindesberg, working closely with longtime producer Mats Eriksson, crafting songs that carry both cinematic atmosphere and lyrical intimacy. Beyond music, Martin has lent his voice to film narration and visual storytelling, and made appearances in nationally televised live broadcasts.
On stage, Martin meets his audience not just with a voice—but with presence. His performances are marked by warmth, vulnerability, and a quiet power. Whether standing beneath the lights of a grand theatre or singing beneath open skies, he remains a storyteller at heart—a voice from the soul of Sweden, singing not for spectacle, but for truth.
