Mànran

Scotland

Mànran are widely celebrated as one of the most exciting and respected bands in traditional music. Since forming in 2010, the seven-piece outfit has built a stellar reputation for their powerful blend of traditional and contemporary sounds, combining songs in both Gaelic and English with a high-energy, genre-defying style. Now celebrating 15 years together, Mànran continue to lead the charge in progressive folk music while staying rooted in the rich musical heritage of Scotland and Ireland.

Their distinctive sound—fusing fiddle, accordion, flute, Uilleann and Highland pipes, drums, bass, and guitar—has taken them across the world, performing in more than 30 countries and headlining renowned stages from Europe to North America and Australia. The band’s accolades include being named International Artist of the Year at the Australian Celtic Music Awards, and they have become firm favourites at various festivals and events across the world.

In recent years, Mànran have played some of their biggest and most ambitious shows to date, including a headline slot at the massive Hoolie in the Hydro—Scotland’s biggest night of traditional music—and a landmark appearance at Scotland’s Hoolie in New York, celebrating Scottish culture on an international stage.

2025 marks an exciting new chapter for the band, with the release of a brand-new studio album, To The Wind, on 1st August. Preceded by three singles—all of which have been playlisted on BBC Radio 2—the album showcases Mànran at their creative peak, blending innovative arrangements with deep-rooted storytelling and musicality. The new material has been met with widespread enthusiasm from fans and critics alike, solidifying the band’s position as a driving force in contemporary Celtic folk.

Mànran’s lineup includes some of the Scotland & Ireland's finest musicians, each bringing a distinctive voice to the ensemble: Ewen Henderson, Gary Innes, Ryan Murphy, Mark Scobbie, Marcus Cordock, Kim Carnie, and Aidan Moodie. Together, they create music that is both emotionally resonant and explosively vibrant, delivering unforgettable live shows that leave a lasting impression on audiences around the world.

As they look ahead to a packed 2025 tour schedule, Mànran continue to evolve and inspire—honouring their roots while forging new paths in traditional music. Their dedication to the Gaelic language, cultural tradition, and boundary-pushing creativity has earned them a place not only in the hearts of their fans but in the wider legacy of their musical story.
