Larysa Musick

Canada

A believer in the slow build, Larysa Musick established herself as a poet and illustrator-author before turning singer-songwriter. Given her last name, it may have been fate. Listening to her, you’d think of Greenwich Village clubs in the 1960s. Wide-eyed nostalgia folk with effortless finger-picking guitar and unmistakable vibrato, delivered by a lush mezzo-soprano. Lyrically, Larysa is earnest, probably from her years reciting at poetry slams for a score out of ten, similar to Olympic diving competitions. Larysa’s upcoming EP, co-produced with prominent Canadian fiddler and singer-songwriter Sierra Noble and engineered by Madeleine Roger is set to release in the fall of 2023.
