MAKAS BAND

Netherlands

A mix of Anatolian folk music and psychedelic rock influences. That is the best way to describe the musical style of the Dutch band Makas.
The mix of these two musical styles, performed with both traditional and Western instruments ensures that the group distinguishes itself from other bands.

The guitar and the saz are the glue in this surprising combination of styles.
The nice thing about such a rich sea of influences is that the way you
experience Makas' music is constantly changing.
Where one moment you get a cutting guitar solo, the next moment you are dancing untameable, a little later you are treated to an adventurous leitmotif or a fat riff that would have envied rock greats from the seventies.
Themes such as injustice, friendship and love form a common thread through their idiosyncratic musical style.

CULTURAL PALLET
Because Makas has Turkish, Armenian and Dutch band members, a variety of musical influences come together. With a surprising effect!

MUSIC VENUES AND FESTIVALS
MAKAS became 2nd of a total of 160 bands that participated in band contest named 'Sessions' concerts in the Netherlands.
While Makas is a popular band on Dutch music venues and festivals, they are successful internationally as well. The band has already performed at one of the biggest music festivals in Turkey (Zeytinli Festival) and at festivals in England, Belgium, and Germany.
